With 2023 coming to an end, 2024 is upon us, alongside the wild predictions for this year’s top pop culture moments that will break the internet. With more and more predictions surfacing by day, 2024 looks promising for many spectacles in the pop culture world.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce infamously revealed their ground-breaking relationship to the nation in mid-2023, grabbing all Swifties and Kansas City Chiefs fans’ attention instantaneously. With time, both of their loyal fan bases have seen them continue to be public about their relationship, showing no signs of turmoil.
As their relationship continues to grow, the attraction seems heavier, and their loyalty to one another only seems stronger.
Swift and Kelce continue to make public headlines, as they are equally in their prime and getting only positive feedback. A couple like Swift and Kelce are expected to make things last, and maybe that means a future proposal is coming soon.
“It’s totally plausible,” said Ansley Herrin, a freshman art major. “I mean, pop sensation Taylor, and star football player Travis. Why wouldn’t they get engaged?”
With speculations of engagement in the air, things are looking up for 2024. There are happy moments. Then, there are devastating moments.
Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber, both icons for the century, got married back in September 2018.
“Four months after reuniting and two months after getting engaged, the pair were spotted at a New York City marriage bureau,” said Brides magazine. “Despite previous claims that the couple did not get married at the courthouse, Justin confirmed the nuptials news to a fan.”
Over the past five years, speculation and rumors have surfaced questioning the longevity of their marriage. With the recent Selena Gomez and Hailey Beiber “beef,” internetgoers have since questioned any of Justin Bieber’s moves since marrying Hailey Bieber.
“I think Hailey will get fed up with Justin’s antics,” said Sarah Chastain, a freshman marketing major.
Despite the couple’s six years of marriage, in light of Justin Bieber’s actions, people have speculated a falling-out between the married couple, resulting in divorce.
Frank Ocean is a pop icon who primarily focuses on releasing music under the genre of alternative R&B.
Over time, Ocean has accumulated over 30.9 million monthly listeners on Spotify, even with his latest release being the single, “In My Room,” which dropped Nov. 2, 2019. Fans have tried to get Ocean out of hiding, but he has still yet to announce or release any upcoming songs or performances, with the exception of Ocean headlining for Coachella 2023, then deciding to withdraw from performing 30 minutes in.
After Ocean’s withdrawal at Coachella, many fans were left disappointed, as this was the first time since 2017 Ocean had performed live. After Coachella, fans eased up a bit and started to come up with speculations.
“It’s about time he releases some more music,” said Anabel Thompson, an undeclared freshman. “We’ve waited long enough.”
This gave many of his fans some sort of hope. With his last drop being a mere five years ago, fans have speculated a return for the infamous performer.
Jacob Elordi made his first big debut on screen in the Netflix original “The Kissing Booth,” leaving many girls with a newfound celebrity crush. He continued working on that movie series, leaving the franchise after three successful movies.
Eloridi proceeded to work on popular shows and movies, such as “Euphoria,” “Saltburn,” “Priscilla” and “The Sweet East.” And that is only the beginning for Eloridi.
The one performance of Elordi’s that sticks out like a sore thumb is his role in “Saltburn,” where he played a character named Felix. After the release of this movie on Nov. 17, 2023, viewers instantly began compulsively obsessed with him.
He has always been in the light because of his alluring looks, which has intensified with every day since the release of “Saltburn.” Fans see Elordi as very charismatic, charming, skilled and attractive.
With Elordi’s looks and constant upward spiral of fame, people are leaning towards whether he will earn the title of People’s magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” or at least get a chance in the running. Notoriously, the winners of “Sexiest Man Alive” have been people a little older, but Elordi might just make history by being the youngest person to ever win.
“I think Jacob Elordi has a good chance at winning,” Thompson said.
Alix Earle started off on TikTok, a widely popular social media app, by posting “Get Ready With Me” videos.
In these “Get Ready With Me” videos, fans would typically see her preparing for a night out with friends, as she attended the University of Miami and consistently went out. This allowed Earle to show off her fun lifestyle and personality to everyone.
Earle went from posting to hundreds of fans to millions almost overnight. Earle soon took over the app and became a heartthrob to millions of girls all over the country.
After Earle’s spike in fame, she began creating better content and more sincere videos for her following. This includes a podcast she started, encapsulating more of her life and in way more depth, titled “Hot Mess with Alix Earle.”
This helped Earle reach even more people while simultaneously building her fan base. With the popularization of Earle over the past few months, fans can only hope she is planning on dropping something even bigger soon.
“Alix Earle will for sure make a bikini line closer to spring or summer, or maybe partner with an already popular bathing suit company,” said Anyka Massey, a freshman nursing major.
In summer 2023, Earle modeled for the line, shocking fans and bringing in more business for both parties. Knowing the campaign did so well, in the future, we might just see Earle taking on a bigger role and designing her line in accordance with the company.
One thing to speculate on is whether we can expect a swimsuit line to be dropping, either by her management team or, even more likely, Earle might drop a line with the company Frankies Bikinis.
Each year, more and more happens in the pop culture world, meaning anything is plausible.
