During the last moments of Georgia’s legislative session, senators have decided to pay out two former Georgia prisoners who served time for wrongful conviction.

Tuesday morning, state senators cleared two house resolutions in an unanimous vote.

60-year-old Dennis Perry will receive 1.23 million dollars in compensation for the 2o years he spent in prison.

Perry was falsely accused of double murder, but he was proven innocent after DNA evident was brought to the court.

DNA evidence also exonerated Kerry Robinson, who spent 18 years in prison for a rape he did not commit.

Robinson will receive 480,000 dollars for his time.

The exonerated and their lawyers did make a case for more compensation, but lawmakers claimed there was not enough room in the state budget.
